Challenge:

Solution:

we propose, CAPS in combination with FLAIR®: CAPS allow to individually craft molecules on the surface of your film based on Nitrogen chemistry, but is not as big as conventional plasma system (dwell time!)  and offers the possibility to achieve high treatment values even without the use of Nitrogen.

We have already installed this newly developed technology in all relevant treatment options for BOPP, PE and CPP and, in combination with CAPS, have been able to further improve treatment results.

In addition to the standard use directly after the extruder, pre-treatment can now , for the first time, also take place directly preceding inline coating or on the secondary slitter. As expected, the treatment results are clearly superior to those of the corona in terms of pretreatment degree and storage stability. However, FLAIR is particularly relevant for production due to its enormous energy efficiency and much more compact design. In combination with CAPS, an enormous amount of space can be saved in the design: the rollers become much smaller, the systems much leaner and more efficient.

The station uses no silicone rubber coating on the treatment roller but a plain stainless steel on the outside which guarantees a very long lasting of the roll. The treater is extremely compact, requiring minimal space for a very high power. Also treatment roll diameter can be substantially smaller than for a normal corona, at the same or even a higher power level.

FLAIR® can reach extremely high surface energy levels, up to 73 mN/m are possible in principle, and adhesion properties are excellent much better than corona even for the same dyne level.

The technology can be implemented in any running system to reach out for efficiency and higher quality with a minimum invest.
