Plasmawerk introduces CEREMO – modular ceramic electrodes for any width

Corona station equipped with a CEREMO electrode larger than 4 m width into BIAX speciality film line in Europe delivered.

With respect to customer orientated innovation, Plasmawerk Hamburg has tackled one of the compelling technical issues of the industry: to implement the benefits of ceramic electrodes to wide width corona stations. The vital point for investing in R&D for ceramic electrodes was the customers need to become independent of dielectric coatings of the main treatment roller and specially to solve the problems of electrical punctures causing short circuits, damage of the film and, most of all, down times.

Ceramic electrodes allow the treatment of both electrically conductive and non-conductive web materials. Therefore, ceramic electrodes are successfully used in corona treaters with bare treatment rollers, or in combination with thin ceramic coatings for much improved wear resistance. Up to now the fragile structure of the material was the limiting factor in the use of this technology at high widths. This question now is solved by using a modular system in favor to a one-piece solution.
